What You'll Do As our HR Specialist , you'll help create a positive, compliant, and engaging work environment for all employees:
Recruitment & Onboarding: Own the full-cycle hiring processfrom sourcing and interviewing to onboardingensuring we build strong, values-aligned teams.
Employee Relations: Foster a culture of inclusion, mediate conflicts, and support employee well-being.
Training & Development: Design and implement training programs for service, safety, compliance, and career growth.
Compliance & Policies: Ensure all HR practices align with California labor laws and internal policies.
Benefits Administration: Support employee benefits and leave processes, ensuring clear, timely communication.
Performance Management: Guide managers through reviews, coaching, and growth conversations.
Culture & Engagement: Plan team-building activities, recognition programs, and culture initiatives that make work rewarding.
Reporting & HRIS: Maintain accurate records using platforms like BambooHR, and assist with payroll and data reporting.
Who You Are 3+ years of HR experience, ideally in the restaurant or hospitality industry
Fluent in English and Spanish (written & spoken)
Strong understanding of California labor laws and compliance standards
Tech-savvy with HRIS systems (e.g., BambooHR, ADP), payroll platforms, and tools like Microsoft Office, Google Suite, LinkedIn Recruiter
Excellent communicator with a high level of empathy, discretion, and professionalism
Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or related field required
PHR or SHRM-CP certification is a plus
Additional Details Schedule: Full-time, 8-hour shifts, Monday to Friday, with occasional on-call/weekend needs
Work Location: In person - Oakland, CA 94610
Relocation: Required before start date
