Job Summary The Accountant reports directly to the Direct of Finance and is responsible for accounting matters specific to the trading business of Kolmar Americas. The Accountant’s responsibilities include transactional processing; reconciling account balances; maintaining general ledger and implementing month-end close procedures. Duties/Responsibilities Prepare various monthly journal entries along with monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts ensuring appropriate sub ledger matches to account balance (e.g. deposit received, fixed assets, bank balances, accounts receivable, accounts payable, etc.). Maintain fixed assets spreadsheet and reconcile to trial balance each month. Perform ad-hoc projects and analysis to management as necessary on a timely manner. Prepare monthly A/R & A/P aging reports and research items that are significantly past due. Work with accounting system vendor to correct any issues with the system. Prepare Intercompany reconciliation with parent company as well as with subsidiaries. Prepare Intercompany elimination entries. Prepare overhead accounts at month/quarter end to ensure proper classification into fixed asset and prepaid accounts. Daily review / posting of cash. Manage the annual surety bond renewal process across multiple states and licenses. Manage the monthly and quarterly excise tax return filing process across multiple states and filing types. Manage the annual license renewal process across multiple states and license types. Assist in researching the requirements from Federal and State agencies governing the purchase, sale, import and export of the products traded by Kolmar in the United States and their specific taxability in the respective jurisdictions as well as securing the required registrations/license. Work interdepartmentally to collaborate on information gathering, closing of the books, and analyzing/interpreting financial information. Assist in data collection for annual audit. Serve as a back up to Treasury on the processing of payments. Serve as a back up to Accounts Payable. Qualifications Required Skills/Abilities Highly self-motivated and an excellent team player. Able to work independently. Strong analytical reasoning skills. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in MS Office Suite or similar software. Ability to maintain confidentiality of company financial information. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance 1-2 years experience in accounting or bookkeeping (preferred). Experience in commodities trading is a plus. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods sitting/standing at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift 15 pounds at a time.
