Sr. Scientist-Antibody Analytical Characterization
Prellis Biologics is a pre‑IPO biotech located in Berkeley, CA. We integrate human biology with machine learning to develop next‑generation antibody therapeutics that address unmet patient needs across metabolic, inflammation, and oncology indications. About the role
We are looking for an accomplished and detail‑oriented
Senior Scientist
with strong expertise in mass spectrometry (MS) and aggregation analysis to join our Antibody Engineering team. This individual will lead the design and execution of analytical strategies focused on the biophysical characterization of therapeutic antibodies, emphasizing MS and analytical size‑exclusion chromatography (aSEC). Key Responsibilities
Lead mass spectrometry‑based characterization of therapeutic proteins, including monoclonal antibodies, bispecifics, and antigens. Perform intact mass and subunit analysis, peptide mapping, and sequence confirmation. Profile post‑translational modifications (e.g., glycosylation, oxidation, deamidation). Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot aSEC methods to assess aggregation, purity, and product quality. Characterize high‑molecular‑weight aggregates, fragments, and other product‑ or process‑related impurities. Collaborate closely with Antibody Discovery, Immunogen Design, and Target Biology teams to integrate analytical insights into therapeutic development. Prepare high‑quality technical documentation, including protocols, reports, and SOPs. Qualifications
Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related discipline with 3+ years of relevant industry experience; or M.S. with 8+ years; or B.S. with 10+ years in biopharmaceutical analytical development. Proven hands‑on expertise in LC‑MS/MS, intact mass analysis, peptide mapping, and PTM characterization of antibody‑based therapeutics. Strong experience with aSEC for aggregation analysis, including method development and troubleshooting. Familiarity with additional chromatographic techniques such as RP‑HPLC, HIC, and IEX. Solid skills in data analysis, interpretation, and scientific communication (written and verbal). Benefits
Competitive employee benefits package, including group medical, dental, and vision coverage, life and disability insurance, flexible spending accounts, and a 401(k) plan. Stock‑based long‑term incentives. Bonus plan. Holiday package including a 1+ week winter shutdown. Flexible work models, including remote and hybrid arrangements where possible. Application Deadline
Prellis does not have a hard deadline; we will continue accepting applications until we fill the position. Equal Opportunity Statement
Prellis Bio is an equal‑opportunity employer. All applicants will be considered for employment without attention to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran or disability status.
