About Medical Directors at MedVet Medical Directors work collaboratively with a Hospital Director in a dyad leadership model. The MD reports to a Regional Medical Director and leads the local Medical Services team, overseeing specialty and emergency doctors. The MD promotes a culture that supports employees delivering the MedVet Experience in a healthy and sustainable manner while living MedVet’s core values of teamwork, leadership, and compassion.

Key Responsibilities

Foster a culture that supports continuous improvement and development of engaged and empowered caregivers.

Serve as an overall leader for the hospital with the Hospital Director, directing Emergency and Specialty services.

Lead and direct Medical Services teams, including doctor hiring, onboarding, development, and performance management.

Manage overall department workflows and ensure patient care is delivered efficiently, safely, and compassionately.

Schedule doctors, hold department meetings, and handle doctor‑facing communications.

Work with the HD to provide drivers and tools for high‑quality client and referral partner experience.

Manage hospital financial results, including inventory and other expenses.

Prepare and manage the hospital and capital budgets with Regional Medical Director and finance leaders.

Lead the hospital’s annual operational plan strategy and execution.

Support referral partner outreach and CE activities to grow referral partner relationships.

Handle escalated client and referral partner issues and interact with regulatory boards as needed.

Who You Are

Have demonstrated leadership with a strong track record during times of change, transformation, and rapid growth.

Have at least 5–7 years of progressive growth and experience in a veterinary organization.

Can effectively manage conflict in highly emotional situations with grace and maturity.

Board‑certified veterinary specialists, experienced ER veterinarians, veterinarians with military or animal health leadership, or equivalent experience are ideal.
