This position in Sargent & Lundy’s Consulting group will require you to focus on our utility planning and advisory projects, such as the following:
Transmission system planning and analysis, including studies in load flow, stability, short circuit, and electromagnetic transients (EMT), to support a variety of clients such as ISO/RTO and electric utilities.
Preparing new generator interconnection applications, including development of conceptual single line diagram, verification of compliance with reactive power requirements, and development of steady-state, dynamic, and short circuit models to support the applications.
Reviewing ISO feasibility and system impact studies to provide guidance to our clients, who are ISO Interconnection Customers.
Qualifications We do not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S. for this position.
Essential skills and experience:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and sufficient industry experience is considered in lieu of an advanced degree.
A minimum of 6 years relevant power systems engineering experience with utility or consultant.
Experience in load flow and contingency analysis to identify transmission thermal and voltage constraints and to identify transfer capability limits.
Experience using transmission planning software for load flow modeling, contingency analysis, and stability analysis using PSS/E, PSLF, TARA.
Experience in stability analysis to identify critical clearing times, identify voltage constraints and analyze power system damping.
Experience in electromagnetic transient analysis using PSCAD.
Experience in short circuit analysis and using software programs CAPE or ASPEN.
Knowledge of power regions and ISOs/RTOs, such as: PJM, MISO, NYISO, ERCOT, SPP, CAISO, WECC, SERC, ISO-NE.
Experience in Python, Java Script, or other scripting languages.
Valued but not required skills and experience:
Experience in stability analysis to identify critical clearing times, identify voltage constraints and analyze power system damping.
Experience in electromagnetic transient analysis using PSCAD.
Experience in short circuit analysis and using software programs CAPE or ASPEN.
Knowledge of power regions and ISOs/RTOs, such as: PJM, MISO, NYISO, ERCOT, SPP, CAISO, WECC, SERC, ISO-NE.
Experience in Python, Java Script, or other scripting languages.

Compensation Range $116,620.00 - $179,890.00
