Transmission Planning Manager -- S&L Consulting

This lead position is within Sargent & Lundy’s Consulting Group and will be responsible for the following:
Responsibilities
Manage different consulting engagements related to power system studies for transmission interconnection projects, including external coordination with clients and internal coordination
Provide guidance and oversight to junior engineers performing power system modeling and analysis
Participate in business development including identification of new work, preparation of proposals, provide input project scope, approach, schedule, and budget
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry technology and applications of new technologies

Essential Skills And Experience
A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and sufficient industry experience is considered in lieu of an advanced degree
A minimum of 12 years relevant engineering experience with at least 5 years of experience in leading a team of power systems engineers
Experience in load flow and contingency analysis to identify transmission thermal and voltage constraints and to identify transfer capability limits
Experience using transmission planning software for load flow modeling, contingency analysis, and stability analysis using PSS/E, PSLF, TARA
Valued But Not Required Skills And Experience
Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering is preferred
Experience in stability analysis to identify critical clearing times, identify voltage constraints and analyze power system damping
Experience in electromagnetic transient analysis using PSCAD
Experience in short circuit analysis and using software programs CAPE or ASPEN
Knowledge of power regions and ISOs/RTOs, such as PJM, MISO, NYISO, ERCOT, SPP, CAISO, WECC, SERC, ISO-NE
Experience in Python, Java Script, or other scripting languages

Compensation Range $142,710.00 – $215,440.00
