Position Summary
The Vice President of Enterprise Contracting & Pricing is a strategic leader responsible for advancing Boston Children's Hospital's enterprise-wide approach to payer contracting, pricing strategy, and revenue growth. This role ensures that the Hospital, the Physician's Organization (PO), and the Pediatric Physicians' Organization of Children's (PPOC) are aligned under a cohesive, forward-looking strategy that balances financial sustainability, market competitiveness, and access to care. Key Responsibilities
Strategic Enterprise Leadership
Define and execute the contracting strategy across the Hospital, PO, and PPOC to optimize financial performance, market position, and growth opportunities. Partner with senior executives and governance bodies to align contracting strategy with enterprise-wide business, clinical, and growth priorities. Build strategic consensus across diverse stakeholders, including physicians, administrators, and external payers. Contracting & Market Strategy
Lead all managed care and payer negotiations (commercial, Medicaid, Medicare, international) with a focus on driving enterprise value and market differentiation. Oversee analysis and modeling for current and emerging payment methodologies, including risk-based arrangements, global budgets, and value-based contracts. Anticipate market shifts and regulatory changes; proactively evolve strategies to safeguard revenue and ensure compliance. Partner with Strategy, Network Development, and Government Relations to design and implement alternative payment structures aligned with market conditions. Direct investments in systems, tools, and analytics to enable real-time evaluation of payment models and contracting performance. Pricing & Revenue Optimization
Develop a hospital pricing strategy that integrates market intelligence, payer perspectives, and patient access considerations. Evaluate competitive positioning and drive policies that balance affordability, financial growth, and sustainability. Ensure pricing is embedded into payer contracting strategies and aligned with market sensitivities. Relationship & Stakeholder Management
Serve as the enterprise's primary representative to commercial payers, government agencies, and international partners. Resolve disputes, maximize reimbursement opportunities, and strengthen long-term payer relationships. Collaborate with physician and hospital leadership to maintain trust, transparency, and alignment around contracting outcomes. Team & Talent Leadership
Lead and develop a high-performing team of directors and analysts, building the capacity and expertise required for a rapidly evolving healthcare market. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability. Invest in team development to ensure readiness for increasingly complex payer and pricing environments. Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Finance, or related field preferred. Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare finance, managed care contracting, payer negotiations, or enterprise pricing within a large, integrated healthcare system. Demonstrated success leading enterprise contracting and payer relations at scale. Deep understanding of reimbursement methodologies, payer analytics, and healthcare finance. Proven ability to influence and align diverse stakeholders around complex strategies. Strong leadership presence with excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
