Public Safety Officer III- Training Coordinator
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: The Public Safety Officer III- Training Coordinator is responsible for leading departmental training initiatives and providing supervisory support as a Sergeant. Under the supervision of the Public Safety Officer Level V, this role coordinates training programs, supervises field performance, and ensures preparedness of personnel. The Training Coordinator also assumes command responsibilities in the absence of senior leadership and ensures operational effectiveness across assigned shifts.
Field Training Officer Program
Campus-wide safety drills
Officer certifications and recertifications
Interdepartmental and external training logistics
Hazardous threat and emergency preparedness exercises
Department policy updates and training compliance tracking
Any training-related tasks supporting department or college needs
OVERALL PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITY Required : The primary and most important overall responsibility of all employees is to provide service in a pleasant, helpful, and effective manner to our students and other members of the College community.
Education Required: Bachelor degree preferred.
Experience Required: Two years of experience as a Rowan College at Burlington County Public Safety Officer or prior documented public safety experience (civilian or military) in police, fire, EMS, corrections, or related field.
Skills/Abilities /Knowledge /Other Requirements:
Excellent time management skills, public speaking skills, problem-solving skills and both verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in word processing and presentation software
Ability to operate media equipment such as projectors and personal computers
Knowledge about traditional and modern training methods and techniques
Exceptional organization skills, leadership and interpersonal skills
Ability to work with a team and have attention to detail
Knowledgeable about learning management systems, instructional design and e-learning platforms
Ability to handle multiple assignments and assess and analyze data
INSTITUTIONAL EFFECTIVENESS Collaborates with department members and/or the Compliance, Assessment and Research team to support planning, assessment, data collection and reporting for continuous improvement of the college.
