Duties & Responsibilities

AV System Integration and Commissioning: Collaborate with the installation team to execute AV integration projects across new construction, renovations, and the current general assignment classroom portfolio. Maintain a Washington State 06 Limited Energy Electrical License or obtain a Specialty Electrician Trainee Certificate. Install, program, and commission AV systems including Biamp DSPs, Crestron/Extron control systems, video switching hardware, flat-panel displays, projection systems, and low-voltage lighting controls. Validate systems through testing and calibration to meet performance and quality standards. Interface with project stakeholders.

Design Review and Documentation: Review and interpret AV design documents. Contribute to as-built documentation, rack elevations, patch panel layouts, and control system schematics. Create bills of materials and coordinate procurement.

Project Planning and Consultation: Conduct needs assessments with faculty, staff, and administrators. Establish technology requirements for general assignment classrooms and campus spaces. Provide technical input and assist with scope development.

Tier III Technical Support and Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex AV system issues. Provide root cause analysis and support the transition of newly installed systems to operational teams. Debug and deploy updates to code.

System Updates and Maintenance: Install and maintain system software, firmware, operating systems, AV device drivers, and security patches.

Training and Knowledge Transfer: Provide training and support to faculty, staff, and internal technical teams. Assist with system orientation and operational handoffs for newly deployed AV systems.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree, preferably in educational technologies or related field.

Minimum 3 years of work experience, to include experience in programming Audio DSP platforms; experience installing and debugging of control system platforms and related programming code (e.g., Crestron).

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

Additional Requirements

Ability to perform all tasks associated with the installation of commercial audio and video equipment.

Demonstrated teamwork experience, including the ability to work with minimum supervision.

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interpret technology issues with colleagues and staff.

Problem solving, assume responsibility, and establish and maintain quality standards.

Organized, prioritize, pivot, and manage competing priorities to meet deadlines.

Analyze work processes and introduce appropriate technological solutions for greater efficiency of operations.

Excellence in customer service, user liaison, personal interaction, and communication in a service-oriented environment.

Attention to detail, written communication skills, and technical documentation skills for creating policy and technical documents.

Work comfortably on ladders, lifts, and in high places as well as in tight conditions such as found in crawl spaces, equipment closets and cabinets.

Lifting and carrying up to 45 lbs of bulky equipment and tools; bending, squatting, climbing, reaching above shoulder heights; fine manipulation.

Adjust hours as needed. General working hours Monday through Friday, 7 a.m.-4 p.m. This position has stringent deadlines revolving around the academic calendar which may require extended work hours.

Desired Qualifications

4+ years of experience in programming Audio DSP platforms and installing and debugging of control system platforms and related programming code.

Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Crestron NVX AV-over-IP systems.

Current Washington State 06 Low Voltage Electrician License.

Strong knowledge of IP addressing, switching technologies, and IP-based digital AV distribution systems.

Strong background working with Biamp, Crestron DMPS, DM, and NVX is highly desirable.

Current Washington State driver’s license.

AVIXA Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) certification required within six months of employment.

Ability to work in a variety of environments including ladders and tight spaces.

Safe lifting and carrying up to 45 lbs of AV equipment and tools.

Willingness to adjust work hours as needed. Standard hours Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., may require extended hours to meet academic calendar deadlines.

Working Environment Work in open office area as well as cold shell/warm shell construction site environments.

Compensation, Benefits And Position Details Pay Range Minimum $76,200.00 annual

Pay Range Maximum $82,200.00 annual
