The Inside Sales Representative plays a key role in supporting BoxLinks’ outside sales and operations teams. This position is responsible for managing customer accounts, coordinating day-to-day shipment requests, preparing intermodal quotes, and ensuring smooth communication between customers, sales, and operations. The ideal candidate understands domestic intermodal logistics—including container, drayage, and rail coordination—and is motivated to help grow BoxLinks’ book of business through excellent service and proactive sales support.
Key Responsibilities
Support Outside Sales:
Coordinate customer requests, prepare intermodal quotes, and assist in follow-ups to sustain and grow assigned accounts.
Quoting & Pricing:
Provide accurate rate quotations for
20’, 40’, 40HC, and 53’
containers across U.S., Canada, and Mexico using BoxLinks’ rail and drayage network.
Customer Communication:
Act as a primary internal point of contact for customer inquiries, bookings, and service updates.
Rail & Drayage Coordination:
Work closely with BoxLinks’ rail partners (UP, BNSF, NS, CSX, CN, CPKC) and drayage vendors to ensure efficient shipment handling and cost accuracy.
Operations Support:
Communicate daily with dispatch, yard, and operations teams to monitor container availability, schedule pick-ups/deliveries, and troubleshoot service issues.
Tracking & Performance:
Proactively track customer shipments, update internal systems, and ensure timely communication on any exceptions or delays.
CRM & Reporting:
Maintain accurate customer profiles, quote logs, and performance reports; assist management in tracking KPIs and revenue targets.
Business Development:
Identify new lane opportunities, potential customers, and volume trends in coordination with outside sales.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Liaise with accounting, operations, and management to ensure all billing, rate, and service issues are resolved promptly.
SOP Creation:
Assist in building or refining standard operating procedures (SOPs) for key customers to enhance efficiency and service consistency.
Requirements
Experience:
Minimum
2 years of experience in intermodal, drayage, or domestic logistics
(rail or container-based preferred).
Strong understanding of intermodal pricing structures, FSC, and ramp operations.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Proficiency in Excel, CRM systems, and rate management tools.
Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced team environment.
Problem-solving mindset with strong attention to detail.
