Base pay range $120,000.00/yr - $140,000.00/yr
Firmware Engineer - up to $140k | Madison, WI Join a leading U.S. manufacturer of professional audio equipment trusted across film, TV, and live broadcast. We’re seeking a Firmware Engineer to design and develop real-time embedded software and FPGA-integrated firmware for our next generation of audio and RF systems used in mission-critical environments.
What you’ll do as a Firmware Engineer
Develop C/C++ firmware for embedded systems running on ARM-based MCUs and FPGA-driven architectures.
Design and maintain low-level device drivers, bootloaders, and communication interfaces (I²C, SPI, UART).
Collaborate closely with the FPGA and hardware teams to integrate firmware with HDL logic and optimize real-time performance.
Work hands‑on with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG/SWD tools for board bring‑up, debugging, and validation.
Implement and tune firmware for Linux and RTOS-based systems, ensuring low latency and deterministic performance in live audio applications.
Essential requirements for the Firmware Engineer
Proven experience in firmware or embedded software development in C/C++.
Hands‑on experience with RTOS or embedded Linux environments.
Strong understanding of device‑level programming, peripheral control, and real‑time data handling.
Familiarity with FPGA systems - collaborating with hardware/HDL engineers, using shared memory or high‑speed serial links between MCU and FPGA.
Desirable requirements for the Firmware Engineer
Knowledge of Verilog/VHDL or experience with FPGA development toolchains.
Interest or experience in audio systems, RF, or other signal‑processing domains.
