Position:
Senior Chemical Engineer
Department:
Industrial, Process & Agribusiness (IPA)
Reporting Relationship:
Senior Project Manager, IPA
Responsibilities
Actively manages assigned projects, driving them to completion.
Applies principles from science to engineering designs and problems.
Develops PFDs, material/energy balances, simulations (ChemCAD), and process engineering calculations.
Generates P&ID’s and reviews process piping designs.
Develops process equipment specifications and supports procurement.
Supports and leads project development (FEED/FEL) process.
Provides work direction to other team members, including subcontractors, as assigned.
Approves final equipment selections and drawing submittals.
Contributes to all aspects of the business development process, including proposals and customer meetings.
Mentors younger staff and fosters a highly collaborative working environment.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
Minimum of 15 years of experience, including CAPEX projects and construction.
Demonstrated proficiency in chemical processing projects and facilities, including specialty chemicals, resins, plastics, polymers, oleochemicals, inorganic chemicals or biotechnology.
Project management skills and knowledge of related tools and processes.
Effective meeting management and strong attention to detail.
Strong decision‑making abilities, adaptability, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others.
Knowledge of MS Office and other computer technologies.
Preferred: Professional Engineering registration or willingness to pursue this designation.
Preferred: Construction support field experience, plant operation experience, and experience in process safety management (PSM) & process hazard analysis (PHA).
Working Conditions Some work locations will feature the tough terrain typical of construction sites. Travel may include up to 20% domestic travel at times.
