Experienced Cellarman - Switchback Brewing Company
Founded in 2002, Switchback Brewing Company is 100% Employee‑Owned and located in Burlington’s South End Arts District. Our 30,000+ sq ft facility features advanced production operations, including 15‑ and 66‑BBL brewhouses, a full microbiology lab, and advanced kegging, canning, and bottling lines.
About the Role We’re seeking a skilled and motivated Experienced Cellarman to join our dedicated, employee‑owned team. This full‑time position plays a key role in our brewery operations, with responsibilities including— but not limited to— centrifuge operation, dry hopping, CIP/COP procedures, yeast management, and fermentation and natural carbonation monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
Operate and optimize centrifuge equipment
Commission new cellar equipment
Perform tank‑to‑tank transfers with precision
Execute dry hopping and yeast management
Adhere to QA/QC cellar protocols
CIP/COP fermenters and CIP/SIP bright tanks
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Requirements
5+ years of professional cellaring experience
High School Diploma or GED required; formal brewing education a plus
Strong attention to detail, time management, and multitasking skills
Ability to work independently and follow SOPs
Strong sense of cleanliness
Proficient with lab tools and understanding of fermentation science
Excellent communication, teamwork, and record‑keeping abilities
Committed to continuous improvement, safety, and product quality
Physical Requirements
Stand/walk for 8+ hours/day
Regularly lift 55‑lb grain bags and 44‑lb hop boxes
Maneuver full kegs
Climb stairs, use ladders, drag hoses, and operate tri‑clamps daily
Preferred Qualifications
Experience operating Alfa Laval Brew 80 and/or GEA Centrifuge Systems
Hands‑on experience with commissioning new cellaring equipment
Degree or certification in brewing or fermentation science
Knowledge of centrifuge optimization, filtration, and QA/QC procedures
Compensation & Benefits
Hourly Rate: $22‑30/hour (depending on experience and skill level)
