The Opportunity This role is located in Charlotte, NC and focuses on electrical design for water/wastewater projects. You will work in a technical specialist capacity under general supervision, performing all aspects of conventional design engineering and analysis.
Function in a technical specialist capacity. Under general supervision, performs all aspects of conventional design engineering and analysis.
Broaden your knowledge and skill set in your area of discipline, and may expand into other disciplines and/or functional areas.
Develop electrical design for water/wastewater projects.
Produce complex engineering deliverables including one‑line diagrams, schematics, power and lighting plans, electrical installation details, and technical specifications.
Coordinate with regional and global design teams.
Continue learning and developing technical expertise in your specialty area.
Perform project studies – Energy Optimization, Power System Coordination, Arc Flash Hazard Analysis, and Electrical Reliability Analysis.
Conduct construction inspection and resolve electrical construction issues.
The Team As part of BV Operations, your skills will be aligned to projects that support our three market sectors—Governments & Environment, Energy & Process Industries, and Connectivity & Commercial. You will engage on exciting projects worldwide, from small community improvements to large‑scale mega projects, while focusing on your own professional development.
Key Responsibilities
Continuously learn and remain current on departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable codes, and B&V policies and procedures, and apply them to assigned tasks.
Develop and independently apply knowledge; comply with B&V quality program and support continuous improvement and change management efforts.
Prepare increasingly complex engineering deliverables, conduct research, and develop recommendations for equipment and/or material selection.
Collect, assimilate, and manage data for engineering work; prepare complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles.
Understand and adhere to budget, schedule, and quality requirements; recognize, define, and resolve problems within the assigned area; provide direction and guidance to others when appropriate.
Assign tasks to develop entry‑level professionals and interns; coordinate with project leadership and other internal/external team members on less complex projects.
Interact with external clients, internal clients, and project leadership to understand interests and drivers; may support business development or pursuit activities.
Share current knowledge of the latest technology and processes; mentor entry‑level professionals and interns.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
3+ years in electrical design, planning, and construction services within the water/wastewater industry.
Consulting and water/wastewater experience.
Power system analysis experience in SKM, ETAP, or other analysis software.
Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification, and pursuit of a Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Minimum Qualifications Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program in the home country or in the country of practice. Minimum of 1 year related work experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (e.g., background check, drug screen, motor vehicle records search).
