Job Summary Provides support and guidance to chairs, faculty, and staff on fiscal and administrative functions related to Contracts and Grants budgets for the departments. Serves as liaison between departments, college dean's office, and university office of research for post-award matters.
Responsibilities
Assists faculty researchers in processing and monitoring of contracts and grants expenditures to include cost transfers, budget modifications, no cost extensions, cost sharing compliance, clearing budget exceptions, adjustments/reclassifications, project close-outs (ROE), and other functions related to post-award research administration in collaboration with the Office of Research and Economic Development (ORED).
Provides support to departments on specialized/contractual grant related purchases. This includes the role of Contract Manager in the university's Total Contract Manager (TCM) system.
Serves as the Primary Effort Coordinator for the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry for each cycle of the time and effort certification process through the Effort Certification and Reporting Technology system (ECRT). May serve as primary/ backup effort coordinator for other CASE departments.
Serves as the Primary University's Credit Card Reconciler/Approver for the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. Assures compliance and adherence to the university credit card policies and procedures. May serve as a backup reconciler/approver for other CASE departments.
Maintains and monitors subsidiary ledgers using the university's system. Reconciles ledgers to ensure all necessary actions, adjustments and corrections are made timely.
Maintains database of financial information and prepares reports as requested, including projections of expenditures for contracts and grants.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and one (1) year of related experience; OR five (5) years of related experience; OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
Departmental Requirements
FIU - Research Administrators Certificate Course (RACC) must be completed within 3 months of hire.
Desired Qualifications
Knowledge of Grant Administration.
Knowledge of Accounting/Financial principles.
Knowledge of Advanced features in Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent communication (oral & written skills).
