Location

– Fitchburg, Wisconsin, near Madison. The site hosts R&D, manufacturing, and marketing teams.

How will you make an impact? As part of Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will lead our software team to support our digital science vision. Software is at the core of our products, from controlling instruments to refining data into actionable information. You will mentor staff on career development and the Agile process, leveraging your background in software engineering and spectroscopy.

What will you do?

Lead a software development team focused on building and implementing software for our spectroscopy products.

Develop software solutions for instrument integration and multi‑dimensional chemical analysis techniques.

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, encouraging continuous learning and improvement.

Collaborate with hardware engineers, scientists, and product managers to define software requirements and specifications.

Stay up to date with the latest advancements in spectroscopy and software development technologies and integrate them into our products.

Ensure that software solutions are robust, scalable, and meet the needs of our customers and collaborators.

Requirements:

BS / MS degree in computer science, engineering, chemistry, or a related technical field.

7+ years of experience in multidisciplinary product and/or software development, with 3+ years in a managerial/leadership role.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Facilitative leader who can grow and empower team members and Agile teams.

Ability to work within a matrix organization to achieve goals and gain alignment from key partners.

Ability to use data and metrics to identify and solve problems and drive continuous improvement.

Track record of successfully leading and delivering sophisticated development and engineering projects.

Strong software development skills with a focus on scientific instrumentation, knowledge of spectroscopy techniques desired.

Proficient with Microsoft development environments including C# and the .NET Framework; experience with multi‑threaded development is desirable.

Passionate contributor committed to exceeding customer requirements and growing their own knowledge base.
