Summary Under the direction of the department chief, the incumbent is a certified nurse practitioner (NP) or physician assistant (PA) who possesses advanced training in assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with both chronic and acute illnesses. The role is patient‑first and emphasizes education and evidence‑based practice.
Education / Licensure
NP
– nationally certified as an FNP or AGNP, graduate from an accredited master’s NP program, Massachusetts APRN licensure, current license to practice professional nursing in Massachusetts.
PA
– nationally certified, Massachusetts licensure as a PA, current license to practice in the expanded role, DEA and Mass DPH Controlled Substances Registration, American Heart Association BLS required, ACLS may be required based on specialty.
NP/PA
– current Massachusetts APRN license, authorization to practice in the expanded role, DEA and controlled substances registration, BLS, ACLS as applicable.
Experience Previous experience as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant in primary care preferred. Experience with an electronic medical records system, EPIC preferred.
Skills
Strong critical thinking, problem solving, interpersonal and patient interview skills.
Highly motivated, self‑directed, ability to interpret clinical information and develop care plans.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize, multitask, adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
Up to date with current standard of nursing care in specialty.
Excellent documentation and utilization, high patient satisfaction, effective teamwork, strong computer skills.
