Overview
Brighton Marine is seeking a strategic, creative, and highly motivated communications professional to join our organization. The Communications Manager reports to the Chief Communications and Brand Officer and is responsible for developing and executing communication strategies that promote the mission, services, and impact of Brighton Marine and its affiliates, including in the areas of healthcare, housing and hope. This role will collaborate closely with senior leaders to ensure alignment with Brighton Marine’s mission, values, and strategic priorities. The ideal candidate will be a strong writer and visual storyteller who can translate business concepts into compelling narratives that engage employees, members and industry stakeholders. Responsibilities
Create high quality, audience tailored content including content for press releases, newsletters, speeches, web pages, and social media. Develop visually compelling presentations and storytelling assets that highlight the impact of Brighton Marine’s programs and align with organizational priorities. Create communication templates, toolkits, and policies for use across teams. Serve as front-line contact for certain media inquiries and requests. Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, influencers, and key stakeholders. Develop proactive media pitches and secure coverage of organizational initiatives. Monitor industry and local media for relevant trends and opportunities. Ensure consistency of tone, style, and mission-driven messaging across all communication channels and platforms. Develop brand guidelines and oversee adherence and tailoring of them across departments. Support design and editorial standards for internal and external communications. Lead internal communications efforts including employee town halls, internal blogs/communications, and organization-wide updates to ensure employees are informed, aligned and engaged. Draft leadership communications, including but not limited to presentations, speeches, and talking points. Support cross-departmental communication flow and organizational announcements with clarity and consistency. Proactively provide communication support for outreach campaigns, events, and community forums. Prepare messaging for sensitive or urgent issues with tact and precision, in collaboration with leadership. Lead proactive strategies to maintain transparency and trust with internal and external stakeholders. Serve as the guardian of Brighton Marine’s brand identity across all external communications, to ensure every message reflects our values, tone, and visual standards. Enforce adherence to the Associated Press Stylebook, maintaining consistency in typography, color palette, and logo usage, and reviewing all outbound content for alignment with our brand guidelines. Collaborate with design, marketing, and executive teams to uphold clarity, professionalism, and trust in every public-facing asset. Qualifications
Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field. 6-10 years in communications, public or media relations, ideally within nonprofit or healthcare spaces. Strong writing and editing abilities with attention to detail. Expertise in media relations and ability to craft compelling stories. Proficiency in digital platforms, social media, and CMS tools. Collaborative mindset and ability to respond quickly to urgent issues. Strong interpersonal, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Stakeholder engagement: skilled at managing internal and external relationships Physical Nature of the Job
