Head of Manufacturing Science and Technology - Analytical Core
Join Roche as the Head of Manufacturing Science and Technology – Analytical Core, leading the end‑to‑end manufacturing processes that are critical to the functionality of all products manufactured at NPC Operations.
Position Overview As part of Roche’s Near Patient Care Operations (NPC) – a global portfolio that unites Point‑of‑Care and Diabetes Care – you will bridge the gap between development and manufacturing. With around 200 colleagues in Mannheim (Germany), Indianapolis (USA) and Rotkreuz (Switzerland), you will lead the technology strategy, product design industrialization and collaboration with external partners throughout the product lifecycle.
Core Responsibilities
Guide and develop a high‑performing team of 80‑100 specialists across our Mannheim and Indianapolis sites.
Assume end‑to‑end accountability for the critical‑to‑function processes for all products manufactured at NPC Operations, ensuring excellent first‑pass yields, optimized technology transfer times and competitive manufacturing costs.
Leverage scientific expertise to understand the interaction between process and product, empowering your team to influence product design and process development at an early stage.
Ensure the effectiveness of all process equipment and strict adherence to projected plans and objectives (e.g., line net capacity).
Align your unit’s activities with operational expectations and strategic ambitions, reporting directly to the Head of Manufacturing Science & Technology and partnering closely with other functions across Operations and R&D.
Create a work environment and team culture that fosters exceptional results and drives change initiatives.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in a technical or scientific discipline.
At least 10 years of professional experience, ideally in the process development of diagnostic devices.
Proven “leader of leaders,” managing managers across multiple sites within a global organization with a track record of elevating team performance.
Rigorous scientific methodology, outstanding analytical skills and structured thinking, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for delivering projects.
Business‑fluent English and excellent communication skills; a natural team player who collaborates with diverse stakeholders and communicates complex topics clearly and understandably.
Location Mannheim (Germany) or Indianapolis (USA). The position requires a commitment to spend 30% on business trips.
