Senior Materials & Process Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Materials & Process Engineer to join the Integrated Materials & Structures Technology Team within Boeing Technology Innovation (BTI) at our Berkeley, MO facility. This role focuses on next‑generation thermoset composites for Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) programs.
Responsibilities
Lead the development and optimization of composite materials (prepregs, adhesives, core materials) and related consumables.
Define and validate manufacturing processes (layup, curing, autoclave/out‑of‑autoclave processing, consolidation) for production programs.
Lead a team of MP&P engineers to collect, analyze, summarize experimental data, review and approve test reports and present findings internally and externally.
Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and process control plans for production transitions.
Lead root‑cause investigations and corrective actions for material and process‑related nonconformances.
Lead supplier evaluations and material qualification activities.
Shape Contract R&D and internally funded R&D programs to mature composite technologies for BDS programs.
Follow safety, quality, and environmental procedures in lab and manufacturing areas.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry.
9+ years of experience in new material development and insertion, and composite manufacturing process development.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced engineering degree.
Deep understanding of composite materials and processing methods.
Strong knowledge of standard materials testing methods and composite design considerations/failure modes.
Ability to read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
Knowledge of engineering department interactions and their impact on non‑engineering processes.
Strong problem‑solving and experimental skills; applying material science principles to develop solutions for complex systems.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to prepare clear test reports and presentations.
Experience mentoring and training early‑career engineers.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data‑analysis tools.
Willingness to work in lab/manufacturing environments.
Travel 10%
