Position Overview
Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Launch and Missile Defense Systems provides an excellent opportunity for a Principal Engineer Test – SW Test Engineer (25-404) to join our team of skilled and diverse professionals. This position, based in Colorado Springs, CO, or Huntsville, AL, plays a critical role in supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.
This position does not offer relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.
Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) Program The C2BMC program is a vital part of the Missile Defense System, providing a crucial operational platform to systematically plan missile defense operations, monitor battle progress, and actively manage networked sensors and weapons systems. C2BMC offers a layered missile defense capability, delivering an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It functions as a force multiplier by connecting, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations worldwide and locally to improve overall performance.
The candidate will support the Regional Apps cross‑functional product teams in Colorado, developing and expanding the suite of automated tests run within the software development CI/CD pipelines during software development and upgrades. The candidate will actively participate in agile planning and execution activities.
Salary Colorado Springs, CO: $91,200 – $136,800
Huntsville, AL: $95,800 – $143,600
Basic Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university is preferred, along with 5 years of experience; or a Master’s degree (preferred) in a related field with 3 years of relevant work experience; or 9 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree.
Current, active DoD‑issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start.
Current active DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher is required to start.
Ability to support the development of automated test plug‑ins for integration into the software development pipelines of a mature, software‑intensive system that is currently being upgraded to add new capabilities.
Use of DoD test methodologies, functional capabilities related to automated test development and execution, along with the ability to analyze results from automated tests and recommend updates to the software under test.
Ability to develop plug‑ins for testing Java, C++ or Fortran software and incorporate them into CI/CD pipelines.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with software development within an Agile framework.
User interface development, messages and external interfaces, simulation of MDS systems, planning tool development.
Prior experience developing automated tests for software‑intensive systems operating in classified environments.

Plans and arranges the labor, schedules, and equipment required for testing and evaluating standard and special devices. The document provides a test area with parameters for sample testing and specifies the tests to be performed. Compiles data and defines changes required in testing equipment, testing procedures, manufacturing processes, or new testing requirements. Responsible for testing all customer samples and for special tests that cannot be performed in the test area.
Primary Level Salary Range: $91,200.00 – $136,800.00. The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as scope and responsibilities of the position and candidate experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depend compensation and bonus terms may apply, including overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonus.
