La Rabida Children’s Hospital is hiring a full-time Environmental Services Specialist in the EVS Department in Chicago, IL. This is a 1st shift position, 6:30a-3pm. We are a small children’s acute care hospital focused on treating complex medical conditions, chronic illnesses, developmental disabilities, and abuse and trauma. The EVS Specialist assists in all operational activities, maintaining a pleasant, comfortable, and safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. An EVS Specialist is responsible for collecting waste from all areas of the hospital including biohazard waste, buff/scrub/recoat floors, assisting with laundry carts to and from floors to the laundry room, and similar tasks. Essential EVS Specialist II Functions
Collect waste from all areas of the hospital, including biohazard waste and store in designated area for pick-up Disinfect all dumpsters and waste areas Dust mop and wet mop floors Wash windows, clean stainless steel, door and door frames, elevator and grooves Buff/scrub/recoat floors Assist with laundry carts to and from floors and to laundry room, separate linen and distribute What we need from you
Education : High school diploma or G.E.D preferred Related Work Experience : Two to three years’ experience in health care environmental services work preferred Specialized Knowledge and Skills : Some knowledge of infection control; techniques skills; experience in operative mechanical and electrical equipment preferred What you will receive
