Capstone Search Advisors
The Plant Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting functions at the manufacturing facility. This role acts as a key business partner to the Plant Manager and leadership team by providing financial insights, analysis, and support for operational decision-making. The Plant Controller ensures accurate and timely financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting, forecasting, and cost accounting to support plant performance and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Lead all accounting and financial operations at the plant level, including monthly close, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Provide accurate and timely financial reports to plant and corporate leadership.
Analyze variances between actual results, budget, and forecast; provide insights and recommendations to drive performance.
Maintain and monitor standard costing systems; update standards as needed.
Analyze inventory transactions, inventory valuation, and ensure proper controls over physical inventory.
Support annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes.
Partner with operations to identify cost savings, efficiency improvements, and capital investment opportunities.
Ensure compliance with corporate policies, GAAP, and internal controls (SOX if applicable).
Lead or support financial audits and act as liaison with internal and external auditors.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide regular reporting to plant management.
Assist with special projects, capital expenditure analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred but not required
Experience:
5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 2 years in a manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory accounting, and standard costing.
Proficient in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, etc.) and advanced Excel skills.
Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work cross‑functionally with plant operations, supply chain, and corporate finance.
High attention to detail and a proactive, hands‑on approach.
Experience with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement is a plus.
