Division of Gaming
Ensures that limited gaming is conducted honestly, fairly, and competitively, and is free from criminal and corrupt elements. What We Do
Fulfill the General Assembly of the State of Colorado declaration that gaming success depends on public confidence and trust. This is achieved by ensuring gaming taxes are properly reported and paid and that licensees comply with Gaming Rules, Regulations, and Internal Control Minimum Procedures. Primary Duties
Revenue Audits and Compliance Reviews
Examine records and interview licensee staff to complete revenue audits and compliance reviews following the audit and review programs. Clarify objectives of rules, regulations, and ICMP to licensees during field reviews and respond to phone inquiries, including explaining segregation of duties and program‑specific policies. Participate in evaluation of gaming technology to ensure compliance with internal controls and proper computation of Adjusted Gross Proceeds and recommend revisions to ICMP as needed. Audit and Compliance Findings and Recommendations
Develop findings and recommendations to bring licensees into compliance with ICMP or Gaming Regulations and discuss them with the Lead Auditor, Audit Manager, or Chief Auditor. Participate in report preparation and presentations. Stakeholder Interaction & Training
Answer technical inquiries from licensees, counsel, and advise on the Division’s interpretations of rules, regulations, and ICMP. Promote a positive image of the Division and foster good working relationships with CPA firms, attorneys, and other stakeholders. Provide training to stakeholders on proper application of ICMP, tax returns, and related documents. Residency Requirement
This posting is only open to residents of the State of Colorado at the time of submitting your application. Minimum Qualifications
Five (5) years of relevant experience in auditing. Current valid CPA licensure from the Colorado Board of Accountancy or current valid CIA certificate will substitute for five (5) years of experience. Special Qualifications
Must successfully pass a background investigation and a tax check prior to appointment to position in the Gaming Division. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License at the time of application. Preferred Qualifications
Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written), analytical/problem‑solving skills, and effective customer service. State Auditing experience in a regulatory environment. Proven ability to work independently and accept supervision. Attention to detail and proven success organizing and tracking workload. Experience with TeamMate audit management software. Experience with Google Suite products (Gmail, Google Sheets, Google Slides, Google Docs). Conditions Of Employment With The CDOR
All personnel must maintain the highest standards of honesty, integrity, and public confidence. Employees must file all necessary Colorado Individual Income Tax returns and pay tax obligations and will undergo a pre‑employment evaluation of tax records/accounts. Successful background investigation and reference check are required prior to appointment. Certain duties may require scheduled background investigations. Motor Vehicle Records will be reviewed for workers assigned a State fleet vehicle, required to operate a vehicle, or utilizing a State fleet vehicle as a pool vehicle.
