Division of Gaming : Ensures that limited gaming is conducted honestly, fairly, and competitively, and is free from criminal and corrupt elements. The Gaming Enforcement unit provides crime investigations, interviews suspects and witnesses, collects evidence, and evaluates criminal activity in Colorado Casinos. Responsibilities
Actively patrol Colorado casinos. Conduct regulatory investigations regarding statutes, rules and internal controls. Conduct criminal investigations. Conduct compliance inspections. Provide educational services to licensees and the public. A typical day : Perform as a peace officer to investigate and enforce the Colorado Limited Gaming Act of 1991 and related statutes; plan and conduct background and pre-licensing investigations. Investigators interpret statutes, regulations, and internal procedures; conduct investigations of criminal code and administrative violations; handle financial records and document-heavy cases; provide training, education, and outreach to stakeholders. Criminal Investigations
Plan and conduct complex investigations of criminal activity pertaining to the industry. Initiate appropriate action based on investigations. Conduct interrogations and interview witnesses, suspects, and the public. Utilize databases to support investigations. Make arrests and collaborate with other agencies on case filings. Conduct covert operations and surveillance; collaborate with others on high-risk situations. Statutory Enforcement
Prosecute matters using subject-matter expertise in complex investigations of licensees. Disciplinary actions as approved; respond to complaints and issue warrants when needed. Provide law enforcement support to local agencies; prepare case files and testify in various proceedings. Service of process and security support within CDOR facilities as needed. Regulatory Compliance
Perform comprehensive compliance inspections to ensure licensees and patrons follow laws and regulations. Determine compliance based on analysis; conduct facility inspections and re-inspections. Initiate disciplinary actions as appropriate. Administrative Duties
Prepare investigative reports and case files for court use; coordinate multi-jurisdictional investigations. Provide training and presentations; maintain proficiency with firearms and defensive tactics. Prepare arrest warrants; stay current on Colorado laws and regulations; prepare written regulatory findings. Collect and preserve evidence; conduct pre-employment investigations as needed. Residency and Qualifications
This posting is open to residents of Colorado at the time of application. Minimum Qualifications
and/or
Substitutions : Six (6) years of relevant investigative experience (criminal and regulatory). Required valid/active Colorado POST Certification. Or a combination of related education and experience equal to six (6) years;
POST
certification required in either pathway. Special Qualifications
Background and tax checks required prior to appointment. Valid Colorado Driver's License (at time of application). Willingness to work nights, rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call status. Psychological evaluation and firearm qualification required; POST certification must be current at time of application. Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of Colorado gaming rules and regulations. Experience interpreting statutes and researching databases; regulatory investigations. Independent work ability with strong problem-solving and communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace. Conditions of Employment
