Job Summary The University of Chicago's Department of Medicine’s Section of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism in the Biological Sciences Division is searching for a Research Technologist. The successful applicant will provide basic technical research support under the direction of the principal investigator, assisting with radioiodination of proteins, nucleotides, purification of compounds, radioautography, gel electrophoresis, and data analysis.
Responsibilities
Provides basic technical support activities to scientific research projects.
Ensures compliance of research activities with institutional, state, and federal regulatory policies, procedures, directives and mandates.
Analyzes possible solutions using standard procedures.
Maintains technical and administrative support for a research project.
Analyzes and maintains data and/or specimens; conducts literature reviews; assists with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents.
Performs other related work as needed.
Minimum Qualifications College or university degree in a related field.
Work Experience Minimum of
Preferred Qualifications Education
Bachelor's degree in a related field.
Experience
Previous research experience.
Preferred Competencies
Knowledge in relevant scientific field(s).
Knowledge and experience of research techniques or methods including radioiodination of proteins and nucleotides, radioautography and gel electrophoresis.
Analytical skills.
Problem‑solving skills.
Attention to detail.
Organizational skills.
Verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office or other basic productivity.
