Join a Leading HVAC Manufacturer Supporting Excellence on the Production Line
Are you an experienced engineer who thrives on solving real‑time production challenges and ensuring smooth, efficient operations?
Our client — a
well‑established HVAC manufacturer with over six decades of success
— is seeking a
Sustaining Engineer
whose primary focus will be
supporting the production line
and ensuring the ongoing performance, quality, and manufacturability of existing HVAC products.
This role is hands‑on and fast‑paced, serving as the critical bridge between
engineering and factory operations.
The Sustaining Engineer is the first line of support when production issues arise — working directly with operators, technicians, and suppliers to quickly identify root causes, implement solutions, and keep the line running efficiently.
If you enjoy problem‑solving, thrive in a collaborative manufacturing environment, and take pride in keeping things running smoothly, this is a highly visible and impactful role.
Role Overview The Sustaining Engineer provides day‑to‑day engineering support to the
production line

Key Responsibilities
Production Line Support:
Serve as the primary engineering contact for production — providing real‑time support for line issues, quality concerns, and technical challenges.
Troubleshooting:
Investigate production stoppages, assembly errors, or component performance issues to identify root causes and corrective actions.
Engineering Documentation:
Manage
Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) ,
Bill of Materials (BOM)
updates, and supplier qualification records.
Design & Validation:
Review and validate alternate components or materials when supply issues arise, ensuring compliance with specifications.
Process Improvement:
Drive initiatives to improve line efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance manufacturability and reliability.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with production, supply chain, and quality teams to ensure issues are resolved and lessons learned are implemented.
Cost‑Reduction Projects:
Participate in product and process improvement projects that improve quality and reduce cost.
Mentorship:
Support and guide junior engineers or interns while independently managing smaller sustaining projects.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in
Mechanical Engineering
(required).
Experience:
2–5 years in
sustaining engineering, manufacturing engineering, or HVAC product engineering.
Strong working knowledge of
HVAC systems , including compressors, coils, motors, and control components.
Experience supporting
production lines
and resolving real‑time manufacturing issues.
Proficiency in
CAD software
(SolidWorks, Creo, or similar) and
ERP/PLM systems
(Teamcenter, Windchill, or similar).
Familiarity with
DFM principles ,
ECNs , and
BOM management .
Knowledge of HVAC standards ( ASHRAE, UL, AHRI, DOE ).
Strong analytical and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.
100%
