Substation Procurement Manager
for a
7-month Contract-to-Hire
opportunity with a client in
Santa Fe Springs, CA (100% Onsite) . This role will lead procurement efforts for substation equipment and materials, supporting engineering and construction teams on high-voltage utility projects. Rate Range:
$60/hour to $71/hour; (The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.) 7-months Contract to Hire Job Overview:
The Substation Procurement Manager is responsible for overseeing all sourcing, purchasing, and contract management activities related to electrical substations, including high-voltage equipment, transformers, switchgear, protection systems, etc. The role ensures that procurement strategies align with project timelines, cost objectives, quality standards, engineering specifications and compliance requirements. Substation Procurement Manager job responsibilities include: Develop and execute procurement strategies for substation materials (e.g., transformers, switchgear, high-voltage equipment). Work closely with engineering and project management teams to forecast and fulfill procurement needs. Identify, qualify, and negotiate with suppliers for HV/MV electrical equipment. Draft and manage supplier contracts ensuring alignment with project specs, budget, and risk mitigation. Oversee timely delivery of equipment to meet project milestones. Manage vendor relationships and evaluate supplier performance. Monitor market trends in commodities (e.g., copper, steel) and implement cost-control measures. Ensure compliance with industry standards (IEEE, IEC, ANSI, ISO) and internal sourcing policies. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience. 7–10 years of experience in procurement, with at least 3–5 years in power, utilities, or substation projects. Strong knowledge of high-voltage substation equipment and supplier networks. Proven ability to lead complex negotiations and manage vendor contracts.
