Overview
Seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Manager to oversee the payroll operations for a mid-sized organization. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate and timely biweekly payroll processing for over 100 employees. The Payroll Manager will collaborate closely with Accounting and Human Resources to maintain compliance, resolve payroll-related inquiries, and support cross‑functional initiatives. Key Responsibilities
Manage, process, and audit all aspects of payroll operations Maintain and review payroll systems to ensure accurate processing of salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and deductions Ensure timely and compliant biweekly payroll for 100+ employees across multiple states Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies, escalating issues when necessary Safeguard confidentiality and security of payroll data Conduct routine audits and make necessary adjustment entries (e.g., YTD taxes, earnings, deductions) Reconcile payroll‑related tax accounts Administer 401(k) deferrals and loans, perform compliance testing, and support annual audits Support payroll‑related audits, including workers’ compensation Manage year‑end processes including W‑2s and other tax documentation Collaborate with Finance on general ledger, payroll audits, and tax matters Assist HR with onboarding new hires in the payroll system and respond to inquiries regarding paychecks, terminations, and benefits Provide timely and professional responses to payroll‑related questions while maintaining confidentiality Lead implementation of new payroll platforms and systems Recommend process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field Minimum 5 years of payroll experience, including payroll processing and auditing Experience with multi‑state payroll and knowledge of federal/state regulations Strong understanding of payroll best practices, benefits, and tax implications Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with time and attendance systems Experience with Paychex Flex preferred Manufacturing industry experience is a plus High level of professionalism and discretion Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities Pay & Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90,000.00 - $100,000.00/yr. Workplace Type
