Promotes a positive work environment and facilitates open communication to achieve mutual understanding. Teaches critical thinking and serves as the department preceptor for new surgical technologists. Facilitates teamwork by anticipating assistance needs and responding positively to requests. Service Essential Functions
Prepares the operating room, equipment, and supplies for the next patient and anticipates additional instrumentation. Supports the obstetrician during obstetrical procedures, performing the surgical tech role in a variety of procedures. Assists the circulating RN with surgical counts and care of instruments following procedures. Role models behaviors and skills to improve department patient satisfaction. Quality/Safety Essential Functions
Maintains highest standard of sterile technique and assists with terminal cleaning of the room. Organizes workflow effectively, problem‑solves, and manages multiple priorities with minimal supervision. Participates in debriefing and quality improvement practices to ensure quality patient care. Finance Essential Functions
Maintains efficient use of surgical supplies and recommends cost containment during cases. Organizes time effectively, minimizing incidental overtime and prioritizing tasks. Growth/Innovation Essential Functions
Identifies and presents areas for innovation, efficiency, and improvement for department projects. Acts as resource in surgical technology for the department on other hospital committees. Proactively seeks opportunities to enhance knowledge and learning towards expertise in competencies. Education
High School diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED, homeschool equivalency). Successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program or military training equivalency. Work Experience
Two years as a Surgical Technologist. Licenses And Certifications – Required
BLS – Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA). CST, CSA, NCCT TS‑C, or meet the grandfather clause (Bill 643) and complete 30 CEUs every two years. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Demonstrates skills necessary to safely perform the job, including proficiency with EPIC and procedure software. Exhibits independent judgment, effective communication, and proficiency in sterile technique. Demonstrates competency in decontamination, autoclave use, and instrument sets. Serves as a clinical resource in at least one surgical specialty service line. Supplemental Requirements
Work Attire
Scrubs required. On‑Call
Employees may be required to be on‑call during emergencies regardless of selection. Travel
