Overview An established, employee-owned construction and engineering organization is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their St. Louis-based finance team. This is a key role supporting the accounting and FP&A functions for one of the company’s operating divisions.
The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of construction or project-based accounting, and the ability to collaborate across departments in a dynamic, hands-on environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and review monthly financial statements, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
Manage general ledger activity and ensure compliance with GAAP standards.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis for operational projects.
Partner with project managers to review job cost reports and ensure accurate project tracking.
Coordinate with external auditors and assist in annual audit preparation.
Maintain and enhance internal controls and accounting procedures.
Provide financial insights and variance analysis to management.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
5+ years
of progressive accounting experience, ideally within
construction, engineering, or manufacturing
industries.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
Advanced proficiency in
Excel
and experience with ERP/accounting systems.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
CPA or progress toward CPA
preferred.
