Research Program Coordinator – Inside Higher Ed
Inside Higher Ed invites applications for the
Research Program Coordinator (RPC)
within the Department of Bayview Geriatric Psychiatry. The role coordinates clinical trials, manages protocol implementation, and supports study recruitment and data integrity.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain an in‑depth working knowledge of assigned protocols, including inclusion/exclusion criteria, visit timelines, and required data collection points.
Ensure compliance with all protocol requirements to safeguard the validity of research data.
Prepare and submit annual renewal requests, protocol amendments, and adverse event reports to institutional entities, sponsors, and regulatory agencies.
Maintain regulatory binders and coordinate study monitoring, audits, and special projects for each protocol.
Serve as a point of contact for study sponsors, regulatory contacts, clinical monitors, and internal research teams.
Administer phone screens, assist with recruitment efforts, verify patient eligibility, and schedule patient screening and follow‑up visits per protocol specifications.
Accompany participants to off‑campus MRI and PET scan appointments when necessary.
Administer cognitive testing and questionnaires, maintaining research charts and ensuring accurate, timely data entry into protocol‑specific databases.
Maintain recruitment databases and spreadsheets, promptly responding to special projects, queries, and data queries raised by sponsors or study leadership.
Participate in monitoring and audit preparations, correct database errors, and process biospecimen shipping per study protocol.
Meet regularly with study team leadership to review data accuracy and overall study progress, and attend all mandatory meetings to develop a comprehensive understanding of assigned clinical trial requirements.
Assist with preparation and submission of local and external IRB applications.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline required; some related experience required.
Proficiency in PC operations and software applications such as MS Windows, Excel, Word, and Access.
Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to learn new database and software applications.
Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
Excellent attention to detail and strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to follow multiple, detailed directions for various protocols.
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills; ability and licensure to operate a motor vehicle; ability to maintain confidentiality.
