Position Summary As a Software Engineer III, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable software solutions that meet business and technical requirements. About the Team The Customer Care Technology team develops advanced customer service solutions impacting millions globally. It includes software engineers, data scientists, and machine learning experts driving innovative GenAI applications within complex enterprise environments. As part of Walmart Global Tech’s Enterprise Business Systems, the team collaborates with product, business, and UX partners to deliver measurable business value. Emphasizing scalable, secure, and maintainable software design, the team fosters continuous improvement and operational excellence to support Walmart’s mission of helping customers save money and live better.

What You’ll Do

Analyze and scope business and technical requirements to support agile development iterations.

Develop and maintain user stories, requirement traceability matrices, and ensure alignment with functional and non‑functional needs.

Write clean, efficient code following established standards using languages such as Java and relevant frameworks.

Build automation scripts to support continuous integration and delivery pipelines.

Implement telemetry and security features to meet quality and compliance standards.

Design, execute, and analyze test cases to identify and resolve defects.

Monitor application performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability and scalability.

Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver solutions that meet business objectives and technical specifications.

What You’ll Bring

Proven experience in software development with proficiency in Java and related programming languages.

Strong understanding of Agile methodology and software design principles.

Ability to analyze and translate business and technical requirements into scalable solutions.

Experience with coding standards, secure development practices, and continuous integration/deployment processes.

Skilled in test case creation, defect management, and troubleshooting to ensure high‑quality deliverables.

Familiarity with telemetry, program monitoring, and performance evaluation techniques.

Effective collaboration and communication skills to work cross‑functionally and support project goals.

Minimum Qualifications

Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 2 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Option 2: 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area.

Experience creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.

Knowledge of accessibility best practices and commitment to developing compliant and inclusive products and services following Walmart’s accessibility standards and guidelines.

Salary Annual salary range: $108,000.00‑$216,000.00 or $90,000.00‑$180,000.00

Additional Compensation Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Certain positions may also include stock.
