R818113The Sr. Manager, Quality & Food Safety is a pivotal role responsible for ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality across all US bakery facilities. This role supports (4) Plant FSQA Managers in the effective implementation of food safety and quality assurance programs. A key aspect of the role is fostering cross-functional collaboration, partnering closely with Operations, Maintenance, Sales/Marketing, R&D, and other departments to drive both strategic and tactical initiatives. The position is central to the continuous improvement efforts across multiple facilities, overseeing audits, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, and ensuring compliance with CHG, customer, and regulatory standards.**Duties and Responsibilities****:*** Lead and support plant teams in meeting corporate objectives and achieving KPIs related to food safety and quality.* Manage and mentor Plant FSQA Managers to foster collaboration across facilities and drive a culture of high expectations throughout the organization.* Standardize quality management system and ensure the effective implementation of sanitation best practices and GFSI audit standards. Serve as the backup BRC/SQF facility lead when needed.* Collaborate with the sales team to manage customer QA relationships, ensuring all customer FSQA requirements are met and maintained.* Oversee the quality assurance process, including internal assessments and audits of the quality system. Manage non-conforming products, dispositions, and implement corrective actions as needed.* Accountable for analyzing and interpreting food safety data sets to identify trends and areas of improvement in food safety performance. Drive data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives based on analytics.* Partner with the food safety leadership team to identify opportunities for automation in food safety processes and procedures.* Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements by leveraging expertise in interpreting the FDA regulations, the Food Safety Modernization Act, and local regulations related to food products, manufacturing, and packaging.* Handle additional responsibilities such as managing customer complaints, leading corrective and preventive actions, and reporting on key performance indicators to leadership.* Performs all other duties as assigned.**Minimum Job Requirements:****Education/Certifications and Experience:*** Bachelor’s Degree Food Science, Chemistry, Engineering or related field.* Minimum of 7 years’ experience management experience in a food safety and/or quality management role in a manufacturing environment.* Preferred experience in a bakery/dry mixing environment, including dry blending, frozen dough, and baked goods production.* HACCP certified & PCQI trained.* Trained in internal auditing and BRC/SQF certified, preferred.* Lean Six Sigma greenbelt, preferred.**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:*** Proficient use of computer, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote), and other related applications or software (SAP, Microsoft Forms).* Proven leadership abilities with a demonstrated sense of urgency and a commitment to continuous improvement.* Versatility to operate at both single and multi-site levels, with a hands-on approach to task completion. Must embody the qualities of a "working manager."* Strong decision-making skills, with the ability to balance food safety, quality, and business risk.* In-depth knowledge of sanitation principles, GFSI-approved schemes (SQF, BRC), HACCP, GMPs, and SPC.* Proven knowledge of FDA and FSMA regulations.* Composure under pressure, with the ability to think clearly and make decisive actions.* Excellent oral and written communication skills.* Ability to thrive in a matrix environment, building strong relationships through transparency, reliability, and accountability. Strong interpersonal skills, backed by technical expertise, are critical to success.* Strong writing skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.**Supervisory Responsibilities****:*** Manage multiple direct reports including but not limited to: Manager(s), Supervisor(s) or other assigned staff.* Work requires supervising and monitoring work performance of direct reports including making final decisions on hiring and disciplinary actions, evaluating program/work objectives and effectiveness, and realigning work and staffing assignments, as needed.* Develop functional responsibilities of individuals that report to this position and ensure that best-in-class output is created.**Working Conditions and Physical Effort:*** Typical work in office environment but will spend periods of time in manufacturing plants which will have exposure to unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, fumes, odors, darkness and/or poor lighting, noise and vibration.
