Assistant Professor in School of Nursing & Health Innovations
The University of Portland invites applications for a tenure‑track Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing & Health Innovations, to begin August 15, 2026. The School values diversity and innovative pedagogy and seeks candidates who are enthusiastic about inclusive teaching and social determinants of health.
Core Duties
Teach a three‑credit, concept‑based undergraduate nursing course each semester, delivering didactic, simulation, and clinical content.
Teach one or more Doctor of Nursing Practice courses in the graduate program.
Develop, revise, and evaluate syllabi, rubrics, and course materials aligned with CCNE and NTF standards.
Mentor students in course‑related work groups and provide feedback on all assignments.
Serve on school and university committees, public relations roles, professional associations, and public service.
Conduct scholarship in nursing and disseminate results through scholarly and professional venues.
Qualifications
Required: Doctoral degree in nursing or a health‑related field (Ph.D., D.N.P., Ed.D.). Candidates who have not earned a doctoral degree prior to August 2026 will be considered for a non‑tenure‑track instructor position.
Required: Minimum of three years of full‑time registered nurse patient‑care experience.
Required: Experience teaching at the college or university level.
Preferred: D.N.P. degree.
Active, unencumbered Oregon RN license preferred; national Nurse Practitioner certification preferred.
