Terms and Hours Full Time Faculty on a 9-month academic year assignment with the expectation of availability to teach during the summer for additional compensation
Salary Range Annual salaries for the 2026-2027 academic year have not yet been determined. 2025-2026 annual salaries for first-year assistant professors in the School of Nursing & Health Innovations are $90,357; for first-year associate professors, $101,261.
Benefits Medical and dental insurance, life insurance, sick time and vacation time consistent with University policies, long-term disability insurance, flexible spending account benefits, tuition remission benefits generally starting after 90 days (employee) or 2 years (spouse and children) of employment, and retirement contributions generally starting after 2 years of continuous full time employment.
Job Summary The University of Portland located in Portland, Oregon, USA invites applications for a tenure-track position as an Assistant or Associate Professor in the School of Nursing & Health Innovations to begin August 15, 2026. Successful candidates will be DNP -Family Nurse Practitioners who are prepared to contribute to the University’s
DNP - FNP graduate program
with the expectation of some undergraduate teaching as well.
Core Duties University of Portland faculty teach, advise, conduct research, and serve the School and the University. Responsibilities include teaching in the Doctor of Nursing Practice program, serving on the Graduate Curriculum Committee, developing and evaluating course content, supervising students, and engaging in scholarly activity.
Education & Experience
Required: Doctoral degree in nursing (D.N.P.)
Required: Master’s degree in nursing
Required: A minimum of two years of full-time clinical experience as an APRN
Required: Minimum of three years teaching nursing at the college or university level
Required for appointment at Associate Professor rank:
Achievement of associate professor rank at an accredited college or university
Demonstrated habit of scholarship
Certifications & Licenses
Required: Active unencumbered license as an Oregon RN and FNP or APRN or eligible for licensure in Oregon
Required: National certification as a Nurse Practitioner
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Demonstrated effectiveness in inclusive and student-centered teaching
Strong orientation towards continued learning and applying learning in the teaching and research environment.
Evidence of a commitment to teaching and student mentoring.
Competence with and commitment to diversity and inclusion; ability to be an effective partner with diverse students, faculty, and staff.
