The Los Medanos College Social Sciences Department seeks an enthusiastic, tenure‑track Assistant Professor of Economics to teach lower‑division transfer courses, develop curriculum, and contribute to a diverse, student‑centered learning environment.
About the Department The Social Sciences Department offers courses in Administration of Justice, Economics, History, and Political Science. Faculty collaborate to design innovative programs that enhance students’ educational, developmental, and transfer goals.

Responsibilities
Teach lower‑division Economics courses (e.g., Principles of Microeconomics, Principles of Macroeconomics) and other required courses.
Develop and revise curriculum aligned with state transfer systems and student needs.
Participate in departmental, division, and college governance and committees.
Engage in student‑learning assessment, program evaluation, and continuous improvement activities.
Maintain professional conduct, accurate record keeping, and timely reporting.
Education & Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in Economics, or
Bachelor’s degree in Economics plus a Master’s in Business, Business Administration, Business Management, Business Education, Finance, or Political Science, or
California Community College System Credential in Economics.
Applicants who do not hold the exact degree may submit a Master’s‑equivalency form.
Desirable Qualifications
Ability to teach core economics courses and demonstrate competence in Economic History.
Experience integrating multicultural, ethnic, and socially diverse perspectives into course content.
Track record of promoting academic achievement for diverse students.
Experience designing and implementing innovative digital or media‑enhanced courses.
