Counseling: EOPS (Part-Time Pool) – Ventura County Community College District. Location: Districtwide (Ventura County CA). This is a part‑time faculty pool for future consideration in the Counseling discipline for Oxnard College, Moorpark College, and Ventura College. Closing: Continuous. Under the general direction of a dean, a Counselor (Non-Contract/Temporary) provides comprehensive counseling, career guidance, and advisement services to students from diverse backgrounds to support their academic, vocational, and personal objectives. Counselors may be employed up to 67% of a full-time assignment. Who We Are

Provide comprehensive academic, personal, and vocational counseling to students; help students develop educational plans and college survival skills; promote academic success and retention; assist in selecting a course of study, major, or certificate program. Refer students to appropriate support services and monitor academic progress; counsel students on academic probation. Develop individual labor market plans; identify skill training needs and opportunities for internships, work experience or work‑study and employment. Counsel on career choices, goal setting, and decision making; provide information on matriculation processes and program requirements at other colleges or universities. Assist in outreach activities to recruit eligible students and facilitate enrollment; conduct orientation events about programs, services, application and registration procedures, standards, terminology, add/drop rules, and financial aid. Maintain counseling records; assist in compiling data and preparing program reports; assist in publications and workshops for targeted populations. Advocate for students with special needs and collaborate with instructors, counselors, and community resources to support educational goals. Assist in developing and implementing programs focused on access and retention for targeted populations. Provide work direction to others; perform related duties as assigned. Essential duties

Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications for the discipline as approved by the California Community Colleges Board of Governors and defined in the Minimum Qualifications for Faculty and Administrators in California Community Colleges handbook. Master’s degree in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, or career development, OR the equivalent; OR possession of an appropriate California Community College Credential; AND For EOPS counselors hired after October 24, 1987: (1) complete a minimum of nine semester units of coursework relating to ethnic minorities or disadvantaged groups, OR (2) six semester units or the equivalent of a counseling practicum or counseling field-work courses in a community college EOPS program; AND two years of occupational experience in work relating to ethnic minorities or disadvantaged groups. All coursework must be from a recognized accredited college or university. Foreign transcripts may require evaluation. See the Equivalency section for details on equivalency. Supplemental Information
