We are looking for a highly motivated, commercially savvy Network Infrastructure Business and Vendor Developer to help grow and scale the world’s largest network. This role sits within the Metro Solutions organization, responsible for developing and acquiring the network that drives Amazon’s internal infrastructure and connects Amazon to the outside world.

Key responsibilities include developing network infrastructure plans, identifying vendors, negotiating contracts, and driving commercial vendor strategy across AWS geography. You will collaborate with service owners, finance partners, and legal teams to create business cases, perform deal analysis, and plan strategic topology for global backbone and metro networks.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as a key member of the NA Network Development team, driving overall Network Infrastructure strategy.

Work closely with service owners to understand product roadmaps and devise capacity programs.

Develop network infrastructure plans and develop commercial solutions for wavelength, dark fiber, and other capacity.

Negotiate key vendor contracts in partnership with AWS legal teams.

Track overall telecom market segment trends in vendor technologies, coverage, cost, and deal structures.

Collaborate with finance partners on budget creation, business case development, deal analysis, and supplier invoicing.

Participate in strategic network topology planning for global backbone and metro networks.

Work closely with network planning to ensure acquisitions meet topology requirements and budgets.

Anticipate bottlenecks, manage risk and escalations, and balance technical constraints with business needs.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

5+ years telecommunications industry experience, including procurement and negotiations of dark fiber and wavelengths.

Network planning or implementation experience at ISP, telecommunications operator, or CDN.

Demonstrated ability to build complex financial models from scratch.

Strong communication skills: excellent verbal and written abilities.

Proven track record working across internal and external organizations.

Ability to prioritize competing demands while meeting customer deadlines.

Willingness to travel.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working at a large network operator, OTT or Internet Service Provider.

Quick and clear network strategy recognition to provide optimal results.

Experience interacting with senior executives and working across commercial, technical, domestic, and international arms of an organization.

Experience working across multiple international markets in LATAM.

Demonstrated understanding of global fiber and IP networks, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, RSVP, and ISIS.

Ability to speak multiple languages.

Compensation The Colorado base pay for this position ranges from $92,400/year up to $160,000/year. The National base pay ranges from $83,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $177,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on market location and may vary by experience.
