Overview The School of Nursing at California State University, Fresno is seeking a tenure‑track instructor in the area of Medical Surgical Nursing for an Assistant or Associate Professor rank, with a fall 2026 start date.

Responsibilities

Develop, deliver, and assess undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral courses in Medical Surgical Nursing, including laboratory and simulation components.

Advise students at all levels and support their academic progress.

Conduct scholarly research related to Medical Surgical Nursing, pursue external funding, and disseminate findings in peer‑reviewed publications.

Serve on departmental, college, and university committees and contribute to curriculum review and program development.

Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) and a doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in nursing or a related field are required.

Applicants ABD may be considered; doctorate must be completed by August 1, 2026.

Current RN licensure in California (BRN) or eligibility for licensure with licensure at time of hire.

Demonstrated commitment to inclusive teaching and working effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Experience

National certification in an area of specialization.

History of attracting external funding and evidence of collaboration with other research scientists.

Experience teaching at baccalaureate, master’s, and/or doctoral levels.

Active participation or leadership roles in professional nursing organizations.

Experience with online instruction, simulation, assessment, and service‑learning.
