Summary

Under the direction of a Registered Nurse or LPN, assists with patients’ activities of daily living and plan of care. Communicates with and supports the healthcare team, patients and families, maintaining high standards of professional ethics.

Position Responsibilities

• Supports activities of daily living: bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, feeding, toileting/hygiene, mobility and transport.
• Performs technical duties as directed: vital signs, point of care testing, bladder scanning, foley catheter care. May perform phlebotomy and EKGs if certified.
• Identifies and communicates changes in patient status to RN/LPN and responds appropriately. Demonstrates standard precautions including isolation care.
• Reinforces education of patient and family regarding individual care needs and safety.
• Participates in Virtua patient satisfaction initiatives, performance improvement activities, and orientation of new hires.

Position Qualifications

• Required knowledge of basic patient care skills, procedures and standards.
• Strong communication skills.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must have successfully completed a PCT course, fundamentals nursing course in an RN program, Certified Nursing Assistant program, or have worked an equivalent of 1 year of direct patient care.

Training/Certifications/Licensure

• BLS certification.
• Phlebotomy training/education required for the Emergency Department positions.
• Maintains regulatory and departmental competencies.

Compensation

Hourly Rate: $18.88 – $28.29. The actual salary/rate will vary based on experience, internal equity and market data.
