Role Description
This is a full time on-site role for a Head Accountant located in San Francisco, CA. The Head Accountant will manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, including managing financial transactions, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and budget preparation.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable and receivable
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely financial data
- Oversee QuickBooks entries, journal adjustments, and account reconciliations
- Process and manage payroll through ADP, including employee benefits and compliance
- Prepare and file quarterly taxes
- Generate profit and loss statements, cash flow statements, and other financial reports
- Perform credit card reconciliations and monthly consolidations
- Calculate and distribute commissions for sales representatives
- Manage end-of-year reporting for tax filings and audits
- Ensure compliance with all accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal controls
- Partner with leadership to provide financial insights and support business growth strategies
Qualifications
- 10+ years of accounting experience (preferably in retail, or luxury goods)
- Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Suite
- Hands-on experience with payroll processing (ADP preferred)
- In-depth knowledge of tax preparation, including quarterly filings and year-end closeouts
- Strong background in accounts payable/receivable and credit card reconciliation
- Proven ability to prepare and analyze profit/loss statements and financial reports
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
