Job Summary The Tax Digital Transformation & Innovation (DT&I) Product Management Managing Director leads the product lifecycle for proprietary technology solutions supporting the tax practice and delivery of services to clients. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of tax and technology product development with a proven track record of successfully launching and managing products used to enable the delivery of professional services.
Responsibilities
Defines and executes the product vision, strategy, and roadmap to maximize value delivered, ensuring alignment with tax practice strategy and client needs.
Manages product scope, budget, and timeline; governs the product portfolio and lifecycle, including new product development and discontinuation decisions.
Leads the product team in delivering value; coordinates with the DT&I leadership team and portfolio management leader to track and report business value and value creation.
Oversees market analysis, competitive analysis, and product positioning; ensures the product delivers the outcomes agreed upon with the business and appropriately supports the business strategy.
Champions agile and incremental product development; oversees the process of gathering requirements/user stories, refining the product backlog, and ensuring product compliance with BDO’s tax technology strategy and guiding principles.
Coordinates with the tax practice and technical teams for product release logistics; manages the creation and execution of deployment, adoption, and change management plans.
Serves as the face of the product for stakeholders; obtains stakeholder buy‑in to align the product roadmap with business requirements and priorities.
Collaborates with deployment and adoption teams; identifies and guides training needs and proactively addresses user concerns.
Leads strategy discussions with pursuit teams to leverage product capabilities for strategic advantage; works with marketing to develop overall market strategy for products.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Business Administration, or Computer Science (preferred).
Master’s degree in Accounting, Taxation, or J.D. (preferred).
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel (required).
Experience with project management tools such as Azure DevOps or Jira (preferred).
Certified Product Manager or other relevant certification (preferred).
Experience
Twelve (12) or more years in tax and/or technology product management (required).
Six (6) or more years in tax (preferred).
Six (6) or more years in technology product management, with a track record of successfully launching and managing product (preferred).
Experience with corporate taxation, consolidations, partnership taxation, and individual taxation (preferred).
Experience with process design and/or improvement (preferred).
Experience serving in a product management/product owner role for enterprise‑grade tax applications that support the delivery of professional services (preferred).
Software Skills
Experience with Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Income Tax compliance (OIT) software and ONESOURCE Tax Provision (preferred).
Salary National Range: $200,000 - $350,000 Maryland Range: $200,000 - $350,000 NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $200,000 - $350,000
