Vice President, Learning Solutions – RWJ University Hospital Job Overview The Vice President (VP), Learning Solutions will serve as the strategic leader for the system’s learning and development agenda. This role is responsible for designing and delivering world-class learning experiences that accelerate system performance, foster talent growth, and enable a culture of continuous learning. The role will oversee enterprise learning strategies, onboarding, learning technologies, and the adoption of cutting‑edge adult learning practices including the integration of AI, data‑driven personalization, and immersive learning methods. This role will partner with senior executives to ensure learning is a competitive advantage for the organization.
Reports to The Vice President, Learning Solutions reports directly to the Senior Vice President, Talent Management, RWJBarnabas Health.
Qualifications
Master’s or PhD in Organizational Development, HR, Education, Business Administration, related field preferred or equivalent work experience leading to deep theoretical understanding of learning theory and best practice
15+ years of progressive leadership experience in learning & development, organizational development, or talent management within a large, complex, healthcare system required
Prior experience building a corporate university strongly preferred
Proven track record of leading enterprise learning strategies and large-scale learning transformation initiatives
Deep expertise in modern adult learning principles, instructional demonstrated experience in adopting and implementing advanced learning technologies, including AI, analytics, and digital learning ecosystems
Experience overseeing onboarding programs and large-scale employee enablement initiatives
Consistently model RWJBH Leadership Competences
Strategic thinker with the ability to translate business needs into learning solutions
Exceptional executive presence, communication, and influencing skills
Strong team leadership with experience managing learning and development teams
Advocate for digital transformation and the intelligent use of AI in learning
Passionate about enabling employee growth, inclusion, and organizational agility
Results-oriented, data-driven, and skilled at demonstrating the business impact of learning solutions
Essential Functions
Enterprise Learning Strategy
Develop and execute a comprehensive global learning strategy aligned with system objectives and workforce needs
Ensure all functions are incorporated within the learning strategy and oversee and support specific group requirements such as nursing
Drive a culture of continuous learning, skill development, and talent readiness at all levels of the organization
Understand health system compliance requirements and fully integrate into learning strategy
Partner with Workforce Planning and Leadership Development for aligned understanding of and approach to future talent capability requirements
System Program Delivery & Governance
Ensure consistent, high-quality learning program design and delivery across the system and functions
Develop over‑arching brand for learning at RWJBH and fully integrate into one learning strategy
Build and lead a high‑performing learning solutions team
Develop governance, standards, and best practices to ensure scalability and compliance
For critical clinical skill sets partner with leadership and external partners to build / provide source of learning expertise and support, for targeted specific programs and qualifications
Partnerships & Thought Leadership
Act as an internal advisor to executives on learning and development aspects of workforce capability building
Build external partnerships with leading universities, industry experts, and vendors to bring cutting‑edge practices to the organization
Stay ahead of learning industry trends and emerging technologies to future‑proof the company’s learning agenda
Leadership & Talent Development
Support leadership development, management training, and succession readiness programs
Introduce innovative approaches to adult learning, including experiential learning, coaching, and AI‑driven adaptive learning
Onboarding & Employee Enablement
Design and manage a scalable, engaging, and consistent onboarding and orientation experience that accelerates time‑to‑productivity
Survey participants to ensure continuous improvement at system and site levels
Partner with system and hospital leaders to integrate role‑specific training into onboarding pathways
Learning Technology & Innovation
Lead the selection, implementation, and optimization of enterprise learning technologies, platforms, and tools
Harness AI, analytics, and emerging technologies – e.g., AR/VR, simulation, gamification - to create personalized and measurable learning experiences,
Establish data‑driven measurement frameworks to track learning effectiveness, ROI, and business impact
