Compensation: $160,000 – $180,000 annually

About the Role: FMS Solutions is seeking a highly experienced Senior Tax Manager to lead our tax team and serve as a mentor to junior staff. This role requires travel and offers the opportunity to manage a diverse portfolio of clients while overseeing tax planning, return review, and proactive financial guidance. The ideal candidate will enjoy collaborating with clients and staff, leading process improvements, and delivering strategic tax insights that support long‑term profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and mentor a team of tax professionals, including hiring, training, and conducting performance reviews
Lead tax planning and preparation for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and S corporations (Forms 1040, 1065, 1120, 1120‑S)
Manage and review complex federal and state returns, including K‑1s and basis calculations
Collaborate with clients to provide strategic tax planning and compliance support
Analyze financial statements to identify tax implications and areas for profitability improvement
Research tax issues and remain current on tax laws and regulatory changes
Maintain and grow long‑term client relationships through excellent communication and service
Utilize QuickBooks and tax preparation software (Lacerte experience a plus)
Requirements:
CPA or EA required
Master’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred
Minimum 7–10 years of experience in tax, with progressive leadership responsibility
Strong knowledge of individual, partnership, and corporate tax
Proficiency with accrual accounting and financial reporting
Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills
Ability and willingness to travel
Must be based in or able to work from Oakland, CA
