Position Overview:
Manage and supervise engineering and administrative policies, procedures and functions for a large and complex construction project. Coordinate with field operations to ensure information is delivered, understood and implemented.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead project engineering for a large, complex construction project, ensuring adherence to safety, ethics, compliance and Turner policies.
Supervise, hire, onboard, and provide performance feedback for project engineering staff.
Establish and implement project engineering procedures during project start‑up.
Manage expectations and maintain procedures with design professionals, consultants, owners and trade partners.
Work with Preconstruction and Purchasing to develop Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) or initial project budget and consult on engineering needs.
Conduct thorough construction document reviews, raising concerns and seeing through to resolution.
Understand and communicate local building codes and requirements.
Prepare project studies, material and cost estimates, and review trade partner Scope of Work (SOW) documents.
Prepare procurement schedules, ensuring timely buyouts and compliance with construction schedule.
Prepare and manage project status, develop financial reports, schedule and document job meetings.
Conduct site visits, pre‑installation meetings, and risk management activities.
Engage regularly with business units to discuss engineering challenges and lessons learned.
Manage change order process, including estimates, negotiation, and owner approvals.
Manage project close‑out, securing warranties, guarantees and final payment.
Adopt and implement new engineering procedures, manuals and checklists with emphasis on risk management.
Stay up to date on new technologies and manage rollout onto Turner jobsites.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or similar, and minimum of 12 years of experience.
Extensive experience in construction engineering principles and techniques.
Comprehensive knowledge of building construction materials, systems, market conditions, trade practices.
Proficient in reading and interpreting contract documents, drawings, specifications and schedules.
Knowledge of accounting principles and cost control procedures.
Experience with estimating, construction costs, scheduling, purchasing and engineering principles.
Project management of competing demands and adherence to established deadlines.
Executive presentation and strong verbal and written communication skills.
Experience managing staff and providing direction, delegation and performance feedback.
Proficient computer skills and Microsoft Office suite.
Experience with continuous improvement methodologies and limited travel.
Salary Range:
$134,400.00 – $209,300.00 USD annualized.
