American Battery Technology Company (ABTC) is an industry-leading battery metal and critical materials technology development and commercialization company. Our Pilot Plant in Sparks, Nevada will be the first integrated implementation of our multi-step processing train for the full mechanical processing, physical separations, chemical extractions, and production of commercial-scale battery metals that will be resold back into the battery manufacturing supply chain to enact a low-cost, low environmental impact, and domestically sourced closed-loop circular economy.
As our Equipment Engineer You will sustain and improve the operations of our proprietary lithium-ion battery recycling processes. This candidate will collaborate with our engineering team and various internal and external experts to ensure the successful operation of our facility. The ideal candidate will be familiar with sustaining large manufacturing operations, troubleshooting, maintaining industrial equipment and all factors that go into the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). The candidate will be a problem-solver and have a keen interest in operating first-in-kind process systems. This should include a constant focus on evaluating current processing steps and proposing and developing next-generation solutions to continuously improve system performance and operability. This position will report to our Director of Engineering.
Requirements
Sustain 24/7 production operations by responding and recovering to down equipment
Support commissioning activities of future expansion plans for our first-in-kind battery recycling process
Implement process improvement projects to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
Support PLC and SCADA development teams throughout the lifecycle of a project by updating, troubleshooting, and maintaining IEC-61131 complaint PLC programming languages and SCADA software
Work with the operations team to author documentation including but not limited to Operating Procedures, Preventative Maintenance Plans, Spare Parts Lists etc.
Troubleshoot down equipment and implement solutions to address root cause (Conveyors, Motors, Pumps, Valves etc.).
Produce mechanical design, manufacturing concept drawings and layouts in AutoCAD
Iterate on technical improvements to novel processing steps for extracting high purity battery materials consistently from various feedstocks.
Review and update document records for the equipment systems (e.g., Equipment Data, Process & Instrumentation Diagrams, Controls Narratives, and Wiring Diagrams, loop diagrams, and layout drawings)
Minimum Qualifications
Background in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or Mechatronics preferred)
3+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
Experience with troubleshooting and commissioning first-in-kind manufacturing lines
Experience implementing data-driven improvements to operational lines (DOE, Change Management)
Experience in Statistical Process Control (SPC), Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma
Experience troubleshooting safety systems for manufacturing lines
Working knowledge of mechatronics and discrete control strategies (conveyance, safety interlocks, PLC)
Working knowledge Autodesk Software: Revit, AutoCAD and/or Navisworks.
Ability to positively collaborate in a team environment
