Job Description
Pay Range: $33hr - $35hr
The Accounting Analyst will support the University Revenue Department by preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, performing financial analysis, and assisting in month-end and year-end close activities. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in Excel to support financial reporting and data validation for system transitions.
Responsibilities Perform daily journal entries related to cash receipts and disbursements. Support general accounting month-end and year-end closing processes. Prepare monthly cash reconciliations and general ledger account reconciliations. Conduct analytics to identify discrepancies and ensure financial accuracy. Review colleges’ trial balances for irregularities in general ledger control accounts during year-end closing. Prepare financial reports and presentation materials for management, colleges, and external stakeholders. Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting support to the Manager of University Revenue. Research historical balances using available records and collaboration with other departments. Document new or existing business processes within the department. Assist in preparing for the transition to a new ERP system by validating and reviewing financial data. Ensure timely escalation of discrepancies or issues to supervisors or the University Executive Controller. Support fee-for-service receivables, bank reconciliations, and revenue recognition processes.
Qualifications Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions such as Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP (or willingness to learn). Strong understanding of bank reconciliation, receivables, and revenue recognition concepts. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial data management. Strong numerical analysis, evaluation, and research skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal and organizational abilities, with proficiency in managing files and documentation.
