What You’ll Do: Program Development and Implementation: Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and programs Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations Establish emergency response plans and conduct regular drills and training sessions Develop and ensure safe equipment operating techniques in partnership with Operations Establish PPE requirements based on the job-specific requirements Regulatory Compliance: Stay current with federal, state, and local regulations regarding environmental health and safety Ensure the company's compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant federal, state and local regulatory agencies Prepare and submit required reports and documentation to regulatory bodies Conduct periodic plant safety inspections to ensure safety procedures are in place Determine corrective or preventative measures, assign responsibility, and follow up to ensure the corrective measures have been implemented Initiates, documents, and monitors corrective actions for adherence to safety systems Training and Education: Develop and deliver training programs for employees on EHS policies, procedures, and regulations Promote a culture of safety through continuous education and awareness initiatives Maintain safety training records Mentor junior staff in EHS management and compliance program development and implementation Incident Investigation and Reporting: Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions Maintain accurate records of incidents and corrective actions taken Keeps the facility management team informed of safety concerns and Leading EHS metrics Work with contractors to ensure they have a robust safety program and are trained in any unique site requirements Environmental Management: Oversee waste management, pollution control, and other environmental programs Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials Implement initiatives to reduce the company's environmental footprint Health and Wellness Programs: Develop and manage programs to promote employee health and wellness Coordinate with healthcare providers and insurance companies for health-related programs and services Manage Workers’ Compensation claims, incident investigations, reporting and employee return to work process. Determine the root causes, hazards, and implement solutions Continuous Improvement: Monitor EHS performance metrics and identify areas for improvement Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance EHS performance Working Conditions: This position will require occasional travel to different company locations in Houston, DFW, Florida and Southern California The role may involve exposure to hazardous conditions and materials, requiring the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) What you’ll need: Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Health & Safety, Environmental Science and/or related engineering discipline Title V air permitting experience Minimum of 7 years of EHS leadership Strong regulatory experience with OSHA Strong regulatory experience with Federal, State and local environmental control agencies Experience managing environmental permitting activities, preferred Experience implementing key management systems/controls such as Permits, Plans, License & Registration, and Compliance Calendar Working Conditions: Ability to work in office and in field Able to stand and/or sit for long periods Able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. on an occasional basis Able to stoop, kneel, and crawl in awkward positions Able to work at heights exceeding 10 feet on an occasional basis Exposure to loud noise, machinery, chemicals, fumes, odors, etc. Equal Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
