Network Engineer 2
on a 3‑month contract. The engineer will support schools and administrative sites (~35‑40 each site is about 2 miles apart) with installation, administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of networking technology, including the CMS Local Area Network (LAN), routers, switches, wireless access points (APs), and site data closets. Responsibilities
Install and maintain access points (APs) Install and maintain switches and routers Maintain Network Management System (SolarWinds, Desktop Toolset, Network Servers, etc.) Support and maintain networks Maintain data closets to adhere to departmental standards Execute projects (software, hardware, firmware updates) Provide second‑level support for tickets after IS&S support team member Perform troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis Document “how to” guides, required ticket system information, site configurations, and other documentation as assigned/requested Use Visio to create and update network diagrams as needed Qualifications
Network engineering experience with Cisco switches and routers Experience with wireless, voice, cabling, and access points Proficiency with network diagramming and Visio CCNA or equivalent networking certification Knowledge of network management tools (SolarWinds, Desktop Toolset, etc.) Understanding of ticketing systems (Cherwell) Good troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis skills Strong documentation and communication abilities Nice to Have
Network+, CCNP, or other advanced networking certifications Experience working in an educational setting Interest in working within an educational environment Benefits
